Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held talks with Jeong Seong-rok, senior vice president for AI/AX at South Korean company KT, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan said.
The sides discussed prospects for expanding technological cooperation with the company, with particular attention to the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure, startup support, attracting South Korean technology companies and joint R&D projects.
One of the key areas of the talks was the possibility of establishing specialized AI data centers in Uzbekistan with the participation of KT. The sides considered prospects for developing the computing infrastructure needed to implement artificial intelligence projects.
Particular attention was also paid to the startup ecosystem. The participants discussed opportunities for Uzbek startups to participate in KT’s K-PATH corporate acceleration program, which could provide an additional tool for cooperation with the South Korean technology ecosystem and access to international markets.
The sides also considered prospects for opening a DX/AX unit of KT in Uzbekistan and providing technology services to clients in the Republic of Korea from Uzbekistan. In addition, they discussed opportunities to attract KT’s partner IT companies to Uzbekistan and open local offices for them.
Another area was R&D cooperation, including joint research and development in artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan.
Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue developing the proposed initiatives and further discuss practical mechanisms for cooperation in each area.
At the end of the meeting, two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed with East Telecom, aimed at further developing cooperation and creating joint technology projects.
KT is one of South Korea’s largest telecommunications and digital companies, developing solutions in artificial intelligence, digital transformation (DX) and AI Transformation (AX).
The company also implements support programs for technology companies and startups, including acceleration initiatives, and assists them in entering international markets.
