Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has proposed giving public transport priority when refuelling with gas during the autumn-winter season under a draft strategy for developing domestic passenger transport through 2030.

The measure is included in a draft presidential resolution on the strategy.

Under the proposal, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regional and Tashkent city administrations, together with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Transport, would be tasked with ensuring an uninterrupted supply of gas fuel to public transport.

To achieve this, gas filling stations would introduce a separate queue for buses and other public transport vehicles, known as a “green corridor”. This would give passenger transport operators priority service during the autumn-winter period.

The draft does not specify when the measure would take effect, which gas filling stations would introduce the system or how the separate queues would be organised.

The initiative remains a proposal in the draft document and has not yet entered into force.
