Uzbekistan and UK business discuss new investment projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with a delegation of British business representatives on the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, focusing on expanding trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation.
The delegation was led by Lord Jason Stockwood, State Minister for Investment, and included executives from major UK companies, banks and financial institutions, including UK Export Finance, Standard Chartered UK, Sturgeon Capital, Endeavour Mining and British Petroleum.
The meeting noted positive momentum in bilateral cooperation. Both sides highlighted growing trade volumes and an increasing number of enterprises with British capital operating in Uzbekistan.
Special attention was given to the development of the Tashkent International Financial Centre, the International Commercial Court, and capital market development. The parties also discussed prospects for technological partnership in pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence and energy.
Another area of discussion included joint projects in finance, infrastructure, public-private partnerships, green energy, transport, geology and the oil and gas sector. Initiatives related to social infrastructure development and waste processing were also reviewed.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their interest in further expanding practical cooperation and implementing new joint projects.
