Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Outstanding bank loans to Uzbekistan’s economy amounted to 713.3 trillion soums as of 1 September 2026, increasing by 85.4 trillion soums, or 13.6%, compared with the same date a year earlier, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.
Loans denominated in the national currency account for the largest share of outstanding lending. Over the past 12 months, their balance increased by 67.4 trillion soums to 452.9 trillion soums. The annual growth rate of loans in the national currency stood at 17.5%.
Foreign-currency loans increased by 18.0 trillion soums, or 7.4%, over the year, reaching 260.3 trillion soums.
According to the Central Bank, a year earlier, as of 1 September 2025, outstanding loans to the economy amounted to 627.9 trillion soums. At that time, annual growth stood at 85.0 trillion soums, or 15.7%.
Loans in the national currency amounted to 385.6 trillion soums on the same date. Their annual increase stood at 71.8 trillion soums, or 22.9%. Outstanding foreign-currency loans amounted to 242.3 trillion soums, having increased by 13.2 trillion soums, or 5.8%, year on year.
Thus, the annual growth rate of loans in the national currency slowed from 22.9% to 17.5%. Growth in foreign-currency lending accelerated from 5.8% to 7.4%. Overall annual growth in outstanding loans amounted to 85.4 trillion soums, compared with 85.0 trillion soums a year earlier.
