Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan will host the next United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2031, Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva said following the 15th Congress in Abu Dhabi.
The event is bringing together around 5,000 representatives from different countries. Participants are discussing issues requiring international cooperation, including combating transnational crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption and environmental offenses.
Particular attention is being paid to child protection and strengthening the rule of law.
On the sidelines of the congress, Mirziyoyeva met with Monica Juma, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
She said Uzbekistan actively cooperates with UNODC and implements joint projects.
Mirziyoyeva highlighted the particular importance of the congress for Uzbekistan. All participating countries supported the initiative to hold the next congress in Uzbekistan, with the decision reflected in the congress’s final declaration.
She described the decision as an important sign of international trust in Uzbekistan, its openness and readiness for dialogue and joint efforts to address common challenges.
“Five years of preparations lie ahead. And in 2031, the republic will welcome delegates from around the world,” Mirziyoyeva said.
The 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is being held in Abu Dhabi from 26 September to 1 October 2026.
