Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The National Committee for Urbanization and the Housing Market has called for the preservation of existing green spaces in Tashkent and urged that they not be reduced during infrastructure projects. The committee issued the statement.
The committee said social media has seen active discussions about plans to build parking facilities on certain landscaped areas in the capital, as well as the auctioning of land plots intended for the creation of public parks.
According to the committee, reducing existing green spaces in central Tashkent and replacing public areas for walking and recreation with permanent structures is considered inappropriate.
The committee said that when creating parking facilities, authorities must prevent any reduction in the area of landscaped territories and avoid worsening conditions for pedestrians.
The committee also highlighted a land plot associated with one of the real estate facilities of Navruz Park, information about the possible sale of which had previously appeared on social media.
Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 83 dated 28 February 2026, a public park is to be created on the site. The plot covers 1.6 hectares in the Matonat mahalla of Tashkent’s Yunusabad District.
The National Committee for Urbanization said the site must be used to create a public park in accordance with the government decision.
The committee stressed the importance of preventing any further reduction of the capital’s green spaces, preserving the site designated for a public park, using it exclusively for its intended purpose and taking residents’ interests into account.
