Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife arrived in Seoul for a three-day state visit to the Republic of Korea.
A formal welcoming ceremony was held at a Republic of Korea Air Force base. An honour guard was lined up and an artillery salute was fired in honour of the Uzbek president. Mirziyoyev was welcomed by South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yun-cheol.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold talks with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung in narrow and expanded formats. He will also meet with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik, Prime Minister Han Seong-sook, as well as heads of major Korean companies and financial institutions.
Mirziyoyev will speak at the opening of the Uzbek-Korean Business Forum and on 16 September will participate in the first Central Asia-Republic of Korea Summit.
Alongside the official programme, Uzbekistan Culture Days will be held in Seoul and several other cities across South Korea.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev met with Uzbek citizens working and studying in South Korea. He spoke with them about their lives, studies and plans for the future, as well as the transformations taking place in Uzbekistan.
The president wished his compatriots success and expressed confidence that the knowledge and experience they acquire will contribute to the development of Uzbekistan.
