Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A criminal case has been opened in Namangan Region against the warehouse manager of a kindergarten who is suspected of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl. The information was confirmed by the press service of the Child Ombudsman.
The case was opened under Part 4 of Article 118 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, concerning the rape of a person under the age of 14. The suspect has been detained, and an investigation is underway.
Within its mandate, the Child Ombudsman is monitoring the protection of the affected child’s legal interests.
After receiving the information, staff from the Inson Social Services Centre in Uchkurghan District visited the girl’s home and conducted an initial assessment of the situation. Following the assessment, the child was classified as being at high risk.
Together with internal affairs authorities and medical institutions, specialists from the centre took the necessary measures to eliminate factors that could pose a threat to the child’s life and health.
The girl and her mother are receiving psychological, medical and legal assistance, as well as necessary social services.
The child is currently living with her family under the care of her parents.
