Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Akmal Jumanazarov has been appointed chairman of the Defense Industry Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
Following the appointment, he was relieved of his position as director of the Uzbekistan Agency for Technical Regulation.
Jumanazarov replaced Mansurjon Ibodullaev as chairman of the committee.
The State Committee for the Defense Industry was established in 2017. On 20 November 2017, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On the Establishment of the State Committee for the Defense Industry.”
Under the resolution, the committee is responsible for coordinating unified state policy in organizing defense orders and the production of military-purpose products.
The committee’s responsibilities also include providing Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces with weapons, military equipment and material supplies, as well as organizing their delivery.
