Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A bridge over the Bekabad stream on the Balykkul–Iskovot road is being reconstructed in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region.
The project is valued at 6.4 billion soums, according to the press service of the Yangikurgan district administration.
Namangan Region Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov inspected the construction work at the site. He reviewed the pace of the project and the work completed so far, and instructed those responsible to comply with construction standards, ensure safety and complete the work within the established deadlines.
The reconstruction was deemed necessary because of the condition of the previous bridge.
According to the district administration, the old bridge became dangerous for traffic during mudflows, creating difficulties for local residents and transport.
The project is being funded by the Natural Disaster Fund. Once reconstruction is complete, the bridge will be 12 metres wide and 24 metres long.
A temporary detour has been arranged for traffic, and the old bridge has been dismantled.
At the construction site, 40 concrete piles have been installed, the foundation beneath the bridge has been levelled, the reinforcement framework has been assembled and concrete work has been carried out.
