Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekneftegaz has held talks with French companies Axens and Technip, as well as China’s CPECC, about their potential involvement in the modernisation of the Bukhara Oil Refinery.
The meeting with representatives of the three companies was led by Abdugani Sanginov, chairman of the management board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the company’s press service reported.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation on a project to increase the refinery’s annual processing capacity from 2.5 million to 5 million tonnes.
The talks covered possible areas of involvement for international partners, including developing an expansion concept, selecting technological solutions and licensors, preparing the basic engineering design, supplying equipment, construction and project management.
Particular attention was paid to the timeline for submitting proposals. Sanginov stressed that time was a decisive factor in implementing the project and proposed that each company submit preliminary technical and commercial proposals within one week.
The documents should outline the proposed form of cooperation, scope of work, required initial data and implementation timelines.
Uzbekneftegaz said it was ready to provide potential partners with the necessary information promptly, consider their proposals and make decisions on the next steps.
The talks are being held in line with an instruction issued by the President of Uzbekistan on 3 November during his visit to the Bukhara Oil Refinery. At the time, the task was set to double the facility’s capacity and involve leading international companies in its modernisation.
The specific terms of Axens, Technip and CPECC’s potential participation in the project have not yet been determined.
