Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The international sports festival GTO — Global Test Opportunity — will take place in Tashkent on 14 November. Participants will be able to test their physical fitness, complete the standards of Russian and Uzbek sports programmes, and compete to set records.

The event is organised by the All-Russian Public Organisation “Ready for Labour and Defence of Russia” Federation of All-Around Sports, with support from the sports ministries of Uzbekistan and Russia and the Russian Sports Fund.

The festival will run from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Olympic Village, located on Yangi Uzbekistan Street in the Yashnabad district. Admission is free, but visitors must register at the gto.рус website.

The programme will feature several formats. Under the “GTO Distinction Badge” category, participants will complete tests at 13 stations and meet fitness standards based on their age and gender. This format is open only to Russian citizens.

Citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to complete the standards of the national physical culture and sports programmes: “Alpomish” for men and boys, and “Barchinoy” for women and girls.

The “GTO Carousel” format will offer competitions for everyone interested across six age categories, with participants completing four sports disciplines in succession. The “Record of the Day” category will give participants the opportunity to achieve top results in standing long jumps, flexibility exercises, push-ups, abdominal exercises, kettlebell snatches and pull-ups.

Anyone aged six and above is welcome to participate. Successfully completing the Russian programme's standards may qualify participants for the corresponding GTO distinction badge.

Residents of Uzbekistan will be eligible for a national badge based on their performance under the “Alpomish” and “Barchinoy” programmes.

All participants will receive starter kits bearing the festival's branding and certificates. Competition winners will be awarded commemorative medals, certificates and prizes.

Organisers say the Tashkent festival will be the second event in a series of international sports celebrations aimed at promoting cooperation and popularising physical culture.
