Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana and Minsk regions have agreed to expand trade and economic cooperation and implement new joint projects.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov and Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexey Kushnarenko in Minsk.

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, Nurridin Mamajonov, also attended the meeting.

The sides noted the continued development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus, as well as expanding trade, economic, interregional, cultural and humanitarian ties.

Kushnarenko said that during his visit to Ferghana Region, the two sides had signed cooperation agreements between the regions and local authorities, as well as contracts for the supply of various products.

The talks focused on opportunities for mutual supplies. Minsk Region expressed readiness to supply Ferghana with food products, agricultural goods, seeds, seedlings, furniture, wood products and firefighting equipment.

Ferghana Region, in turn, expressed interest in exporting fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products, as well as raw materials for the light industry.

The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in livestock farming, furniture manufacturing, mechanical engineering and improving energy efficiency.

A video conference was held as part of the meeting, during which two investment projects were launched. In Dangara District of Ferghana Region, the first stone was laid for a plant that will produce fuel pellets from cotton stalks. In Buvayda District, a ceremony was held to open a large warehouse for Belarusian timber products.

Following the talks, the parties signed a roadmap for 2026–2028 aimed at further developing their sister-region ties and expanding cooperation between Ferghana and Minsk regions.
