Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry has held talks with international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca on strengthening the country's health technology assessment (HTA) system and improving evidence-based decision-making in healthcare.
The meeting brought together representatives of the agency's Health Technology Assessment Department and AstraZeneca to discuss the further development of Uzbekistan's national framework for evaluating healthcare technologies.
The discussions focused on assessing the clinical effectiveness and economic efficiency of medicines, as well as promoting the rational use of healthcare resources.
Particular attention was given to studying international experience in health technology assessment and exploring the use of real-world clinical data in evaluating medical treatments.
The participants also considered opportunities to improve the qualifications of local specialists and develop joint initiatives to support the national HTA system.
AstraZeneca representatives shared the company's international experience and expressed interest in supporting the development of health technology assessment in Uzbekistan.
The proposed cooperation is intended to strengthen the use of scientific evidence in healthcare decision-making and improve approaches to evaluating pharmaceutical products.
The initiative also aims to support more efficient allocation of healthcare resources while expanding patients' access to effective, safe and high-quality medicines.
Both sides examined potential areas of cooperation, with a focus on international expertise, professional development and the application of evidence-based approaches to healthcare technology evaluation.
