Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Spain have discussed expanding agricultural cooperation, including investment opportunities, fertiliser production and advanced soil treatment technologies, during the first day of a bilateral business forum in Tashkent.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture, the Spain–Uzbekistan Business Forum brought together government representatives, business leaders and agricultural specialists from both countries.

Representatives of approximately 20 Spanish companies travelled to Uzbekistan to participate in the event.

The ministry said the forum aims to strengthen trade and economic relations, explore new investment opportunities and identify promising areas for bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

During the opening ceremony, participants discussed ways to deepen economic ties between Uzbekistan and Spain, make more effective use of agricultural resources and strengthen partnerships between businesses in the two countries.

The discussions subsequently focused on the current state of the agricultural sector, existing challenges and potential solutions.

Presentations outlined key priorities for agricultural development, mechanisms for addressing industry problems and possible directions for future cooperation.

The forum also included a meeting with representatives of Spanish companies to examine opportunities for collaboration across various agricultural activities.

Participants considered measures to expand bilateral trade and economic relations and develop prospective joint projects.

Particular attention was given to the production and supply of mineral and organic fertilisers, alongside the introduction of modern technologies designed to improve soil fertility.

The discussions also covered the production of soil disinfection products and the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative developments in this field.

Representatives from both countries exchanged views on opportunities to apply the experience of Spanish companies in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector.
