Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to establish a permanent association of greenhouse operators to represent business interests, address industry challenges and strengthen cooperation between greenhouse enterprises and government authorities.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting with representatives of the greenhouse industry, attended by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The proposed association will collect proposals and requests from greenhouse operators and submit them to the relevant government agencies.
It will also work with specialised organisations to identify solutions to issues affecting the sector.
Participants at the meeting paid particular attention to the conditions under which greenhouse enterprises will be permitted to continue operating.
Under a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated 22 October, greenhouse businesses may continue their activities provided they comply with established environmental requirements.
The regulations also clarify that greenhouse operators will not be required to replace previously installed filtration systems if the equipment meets current standards.
Businesses may continue using their existing equipment as long as they possess the necessary certificates and permits.
The planned association is intended to strengthen communication between greenhouse operators and government institutions while facilitating more timely consideration of industry concerns.
The initiative also seeks to establish a permanent mechanism through which greenhouse businesses can raise operational and regulatory issues and work with the relevant authorities to resolve them.
