Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Türkiye’s Cengiz Holding have discussed prospects for geological exploration and the development of mineral deposits, including coal deposits in the Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions.

The meeting took place on 23 October 2026. Feruza Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology, held talks with Caner Karabay, Cengiz Holding’s regional head in Uzbekistan and general director of CENERGO LLC.

The parties considered opportunities for geological exploration of promising sites across Uzbekistan, as well as coal exploration and production in the two regions.

Representatives of the Turkish company were briefed on the revised version of the Subsoil Law, including requirements for businesses and investors and the legal opportunities available for implementing projects.

Particular attention was paid to the procedure for obtaining subsoil-use rights through the E-auksion electronic platform.

According to the ministry, the mechanism grants such rights through transparent electronic auctions.

The meeting focused on prospects for cooperation in geology and the development of Uzbekistan’s mineral resources.
