Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Andijan Region plans to establish a US$200 million elevator manufacturing cluster in partnership with South Korean companies U&K Global Co., Ltd. and MODEUN ELEVATOR CO., LTD.
The proposed Andijan-Korean Elevator Cluster will produce modern elevators, escalators and their components, with a target of at least 70% local content.
One of the project’s main priorities will be localising production, with domestic enterprises expected to manufacture a significant share of the required components. This is intended to strengthen industrial cooperation and increase the share of locally produced goods that can replace imports.
During talks, the regional delegation and company representatives also discussed attracting foreign investment, assessing the future cluster’s production capabilities and introducing modern technologies into local manufacturing.
The project is expected to strengthen Andijan Region’s industrial capacity, develop mechanical engineering and create new jobs. Participants discussed the next steps towards moving their cooperation into the practical implementation stage.
The regional administration’s statement did not specify when construction would begin, when production would start or provide further details about the project’s implementation timeline.
