Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Hansae Mobility Turan’s plant in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region will initially supply UzAuto Motors with 310,000 sets of braking and steering systems annually for Damas, Labo and Cobalt vehicles.
The enterprise has mastered the production of 14 types of components. Its output is expected to replace US$60 million worth of imports, Uzavtosanoat JSC reported.
Production is organised across 15 lines. The plant manufactures brake calipers, drum brake mechanisms, master brake cylinders with vacuum boosters, steering columns and intermediate steering shafts.
In addition to supplying UzAuto Motors, the company is negotiating the supply of components to BYD Uzbekistan Factory.
The plant covers 20,000 square metres and was built in eight months. Hansae Mobility has supplied components to UzAuto Motors since 1995, and some of these products are now being manufactured in Uzbekistan.
It was previously reported that the South Korean company had opened a plant at the Kuvasay branch of the Kokand Free Economic Zone.
Investment in the project totalled US$30 million. More than 100 people currently work at the facility.
The workforce is expected to grow to 140 by the end of 2026 and subsequently to 250. The company is also considering supplying its products to markets in Central Asia and Europe.
