Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Agency for Management of State Assets has denied social media reports that Uzbekiston Pochtasi JSC was privatized and received a 100 billion soum loan.

The agency said that the shareholding in the company previously held by state organizations, enterprises and commercial banks, accounting for 92.9% of the state-owned stake, has been fully transferred to the Agency for Management of State Assets.

According to the agency, major companies, including WILDBERRIES and UZUM MARKET, had expressed interest in acquiring the stake. However, no documents on the privatization of the state-owned stake in Uzbekiston Pochtasi have been finalized to date.

The agency also noted the company’s difficult financial position and ongoing transformation process. Over the past three years, Uzbekiston Pochtasi’s average net profit was about 800 million soums, with profitability at 0.2%. In the first half of 2026, the company’s revenue reached 313.6 billion soums, down 17% compared with the same period last year.

Additional financial pressure has resulted from the termination on 16 May of postal delivery of notices on traffic violations. A loss of 1.7 billion soums is expected over the first nine months as a result of the termination of this service. At the same time, the company’s bank debt amounts to 45.3 billion soums.

The agency linked the need to modernize the company to the rapid development of the e-commerce market. Preliminary estimates indicate that more than 300 billion soums will be required to implement projects to upgrade and digitalize postal infrastructure.

The funds are planned to be used, in particular, to purchase cargo and electric vehicles, modernize the sorting center and IT infrastructure, install additional parcel lockers and repair communications facilities.

To introduce modern management models and attract investment, cooperation was envisaged with WB INT EXPORT LLC, which the agency described as one of the country’s largest companies in the marketplace segment.

During negotiations, the company expressed its readiness to provide Uzbekiston Pochtasi with a 100 billion soum loan at the Central Bank’s refinancing rate.

As the transaction is considered a major deal under the law, the loan issue was included on the agenda of an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. However, no decision was made at the meeting on 21 September 2026.

The agency said this was due to the lack of final agreements on the interest rate, loan amount and repayment schedule. It therefore stressed that reports that Uzbekiston Pochtasi had received a 100 billion soum loan were not true.

The issue of attracting financing may be submitted for consideration again after the loan terms are finally agreed.

The agency separately explained the presence of representatives of WB INT EXPORT LLC on the Supervisory Board of Uzbekiston Pochtasi JSC. According to the agency, their participation is aimed at introducing modern corporate governance principles and monitoring the targeted use of investment funds that are planned to be attracted.
