Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An Uzbek citizen who was on an international wanted list in connection with a criminal case has been extradited from Georgia to Uzbekistan, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan said.
The man was placed on the international wanted list at the initiative of Uzbek law enforcement authorities in connection with a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 168 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.
Operational and investigative measures established that the man was in Georgia. The National Central Bureaus of Interpol in Uzbekistan and Georgia subsequently coordinated efforts to locate, detain and extradite him.
Georgian authorities detained the wanted man. The extradition request submitted by Uzbekistan’s General Prosecutor’s Office was granted. After the procedures required under Georgian law were completed, the Georgian side decided to extradite the citizen to Uzbekistan.
With the participation of NCB Interpol officers from both countries, the wanted man was extradited from Georgia and brought to Uzbekistan for further procedural actions in accordance with the law.
The National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan said the extradition resulted from coordination with foreign law enforcement agencies as part of international efforts to locate wanted individuals.
The National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan continues to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in other countries to locate, detain and extradite individuals who are on international wanted lists.
