Uzbekistan and South Korea to implement projects for US$1.84bn in energy sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo and South Korean companies POSCO Daewoo and Hyundai Engineering and Construction have signed agreements on implementation of three projects in the energy sector.
The total cost of the projects is US$1.84 billion. The documents were signed during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea.
According to the press center of covering the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to South Korea, the companies will build a third combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 450 MW at the Navoi thermal power station.
The parties plan to build a 220 kV transmission line with a length of 327 km from the Takhiatash Thermal Power Plant to the North-West and South-West Energy sites.
In 2018-2021, the companies of the two countries will modernize electrical networks and power equipment in Bukhara, Samarkand and Jizzakh regions.
