Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a technopark in Khojaabad district of Andijan Region and reviewed the production of smart water meters for monitoring water consumption.
Andijan Region is one of the country’s most densely populated regions despite its relatively small area. In this context, particular attention is being paid to efficient land use, the development of hilly areas and the creation of new industrial zones.
One such project is the Andijan Technopark, established in Khojaabad district with US$300 million in foreign investment. The 100-hectare site, developed in a hilly area, is planned to accommodate 51 industrial enterprises.
Once the industrial zone reaches full capacity, it is expected to create 3,000 jobs. Annual output of more than 50 types of products is estimated at US$200 million. Budget revenues are expected to reach 160 billion soums, while the region’s export potential is projected to increase by US$50 million.
A smart water meter manufacturing enterprise has been established at the technopark jointly with Chinese company Sanchuan. The project is valued at US$25 million and is fully financed through foreign investment. Around 80% of production processes are automated using robotic systems.
The smart meters, developed in cooperation with Huawei using 5G technology, enable online monitoring of water consumption and quality, equipment condition and water balance.
The enterprise produces 1 million smart meters of 15 types annually. The devices feature a design that prevents water accumulation and are equipped with frost-resistant housings.
A dual education system has also been introduced at the production facility.
As part of the further development of the industrial zone, the level of localization is planned to reach 70% by 2030. To achieve this, enterprises producing components and spare parts will be established at the technopark.
