Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Russia and Uzbekistan have completed a significant part of the preparatory work to introduce cross-border electronic document flow and have tested a mechanism for exchanging documents between foreign trade participants.
Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Alexei Yerkhov said this at the Russia-Uzbekistan “Digital Bridge of Technologies and Opportunities” business mission in Tashkent.
According to the diplomat, as part of a pilot project involving Russia’s Federal Tax Service and Uzbekistan’s Tax Committee, the sides tested the transfer of electronic shipping documents between companies in the two countries.
Yerkhov noted that the introduction of cross-border electronic document flow could become one area for bringing Russia’s and Uzbekistan’s digital systems closer together. In his assessment, the work carried out demonstrates the possibility of practical integration of the countries’ national digital infrastructure.
The ambassador emphasized that the further development of trade and economic ties is increasing businesses’ demand for faster and more convenient tools for interaction. In this regard, he said, digitalizing document flow could support the expansion of economic cooperation between the countries.
Earlier, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport reported plans to switch to electronic permits by the end of the current year for road freight transportation with Russia and Belarus.
Uzbekistan already uses electronic permits for freight transportation with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
