Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) discussed the implementation of the country’s international obligations under its safeguards agreement and Additional Protocol, the information service of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety said.
The talks took place during the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference. The leadership of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety met with Massimo Aparo, IAEA deputy director general and head of the Department of Safeguards.
The sides discussed further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IAEA, as well as nuclear material accounting and control.
Particular attention was paid to optimizing the reporting system and improving the qualifications of specialists working in the relevant field.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to further expand cooperation in the areas discussed.
