Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov presented the country’s priority areas for developing its space industry at the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2026), held in Antalya from 5 to 9 October. The Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan reported this.
As part of the congress, a ministerial roundtable was held on the development of the space industry. Sherzod Shermatov outlined Uzbekistan’s priorities in the sector, existing opportunities and approaches to expanding international cooperation.
Participants discussed the development of space technologies and innovations, the introduction of modern solutions in the sector, stronger cooperation between the public and private sectors, and expanded exchange of experience and knowledge among countries.
Particular attention was paid to further strengthening national space capabilities through the development of new areas of international cooperation, attracting investment and implementing promising projects.
As part of preparations for the 2028 International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2028) in Samarkand, the event also served as a platform to present Uzbekistan’s organizational and technological capabilities to the international community.
The 77th International Astronautical Congress is taking place in Antalya from 5 to 9 October and has brought together astronauts, representatives of international companies and more than 10,000 participants from different countries.
The programme includes international exhibitions, official meetings, company presentations, academic and technical sessions, as well as sessions focused on sharing experience and the prospects for developing the space industry.
Ahead of the congress, the 16th meeting of ministers and members of parliaments of the International Astronautical Federation was held, which Sherzod Shermatov also attended.
The meeting focused on the development of the space industry, international cooperation and the space policies of states.
