Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A project by Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry to optimize medicine prices has received international recognition after winning the CPHI Pharma Awards 2026 in the “Excellence With Purpose” category. The Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry reported this.

The project, titled “Making Medicines Affordable in Uzbekistan: Reference Pricing, Digital Monitoring and Public Access,” aims to improve the medicine pricing system, develop reference pricing, digitally monitor medicine prices and provide the public with open information on drug costs.

The award results were announced on 6 October in Milan. The Uzbek project’s victory represents international recognition of reforms being implemented in the country to expand public access to quality, safe and more affordable medicines.

As part of the project, mechanisms for establishing reference prices for medicines are being improved. The system provides for regular price analysis and digital monitoring, as well as public access to information on medicine costs.

One of the main objectives of reference pricing is to prevent unjustified increases in medicine prices and create more transparent conditions in the pharmaceutical market.

The system is also intended to create conditions for people to purchase medicines at more affordable prices.

The CPHI Pharma Awards recognize innovative, effective, collaborative and socially significant initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry. The “Excellence With Purpose” category is dedicated to projects focused on the interests of patients and society and delivering a positive social impact.

Thus, Uzbekistan’s project received international recognition for combining reference pricing mechanisms, digital monitoring and public access to information on medicine prices.

The award recognizes the work being carried out in the country to improve transparency in the pharmaceutical market and optimize medicine prices.
