Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement agencies seized more than 1.2 kg of synthetic drugs during operations in Tashkent and Tashkent Region.
A previously convicted man was detained on suspicion of distributing illegal substances.
According to Uzbekistan’s State Security Service, a Chevrolet Spark entering the capital was stopped for inspection at the Uch Qahramon traffic police checkpoint in Yunusabad District.
The operation was conducted by officers of the State Security Service department for Tashkent in cooperation with the capital’s Main Department of Internal Affairs.
A plastic bag belonging to a passenger in the car, a man born in 2004 from Surkhandarya Region, contained 200 zip-lock bags of mephedrone weighing a total of 365 grams. The substance was seized as material evidence.
Law enforcement officers subsequently searched a residence in Tashkent District where the suspect was temporarily staying.
During the search, officers seized an additional 734 grams of mephedrone, 63 grams of alpha-PVP, 45 grams of spice, electronic scales, zip-lock bags and other items in accordance with established legal procedures.
According to the agency, the man had previously been convicted of theft and worked as a drug courier for an online drug shop, delivering packages to designated locations.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident. Investigative proceedings are ongoing.
