Uzbekistan and Tuscany Begin Implementing Agreements
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Italy's Tuscany region have begun implementing agreements reached following the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani, the Migration Agency said.
Bekhzod Musaev, head of the Migration Agency, held talks with Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani. The sides discussed the implementation of instructions issued by the Uzbek president following their 14 July 2026 meeting, as well as mechanisms for putting the agreements into practice.
"History shows that nations achieve progress when they cooperate and learn from one another," Governor Eugenio Giani said.
One of the key topics of the talks was the employment of Uzbek doctors and nurses in healthcare institutions across Tuscany, with the provision of highly paid jobs.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation also met with Riccardo Zucchi, rector of the University of Pisa. The sides signed an agreement to develop a joint educational programme that will prepare candidates from Uzbekistan to work in Italy in accordance with Italian medical standards, while also providing Italian language training.
The delegation also visited the construction site of the new University of Pisa hospital, where Uzbek specialists are expected to be employed in the future.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to organise practical training for medical personnel at the university hospital.
