Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan met with NASA leadership during the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2026) in Antalya to discuss prospects for cooperation in the space sector.
The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, Uzcosmos Director Shukhrat Kadirov and NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies said.
The sides discussed current space-sector priorities of Uzbekistan and the United States, prospective joint projects and initiatives, as well as opportunities to move bilateral cooperation to a practical level.
Particular attention was paid to the development of space technologies, the effective use of satellite data, Earth remote sensing, the implementation of research projects and the training of highly qualified specialists for the sector.
The sides also discussed NASA’s participation in the International Astronautical Congress IAC-2028, which is planned to be held in Samarkand in 2028.
In particular, the participants exchanged views on opportunities to present joint projects and scientific and technical initiatives as part of the international event.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed interest in developing long-term and practical cooperation in the space sector, strengthening existing contacts and promoting new joint projects.
