Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and APT Satellite Company Limited (APSTAR) are expanding cooperation in satellite communications, telecommunications infrastructure and related projects in Central Asia.
The matter was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and APT Satellite Executive Director and President Wang Hongbin, held as part of ICT WEEK Uzbekistan 2026.
The sides discussed prospects for developing Uzbekistan’s satellite communications market, APT Satellite’s business plans in the country and opportunities to use the company’s existing and future satellite resources to develop national telecommunications infrastructure.
A key outcome of the talks was the signing, in the presence of Sherzod Shermatov, of a cooperation agreement between APT Satellite and UZ-SAT. The agreement provides for practical cooperation in satellite communications and digital infrastructure.
The sides also reviewed current cooperation between APT Satellite and UZ-SAT and prospective areas of joint work. These include the use of APT Satellite’s satellite resources to provide satellite communications, broadband internet access, television and radio broadcasting, as well as other telecommunications and digital services.
APT Satellite representatives presented the company’s plans to further develop its satellite constellation and launch new spacecraft using modern technologies.
The meeting noted that the expansion of satellite resources would create additional opportunities to develop satellite communications in Central Asia and improve the quality of related services.
The sides also discussed further development of satellite infrastructure in the region, expanding international communications capabilities and prospective joint projects involving APT Satellite, UZ-SAT and the Uzbek side.
