Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A two-day seminar was held in Chartak district to discuss preventing land degradation, sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystem restoration.
The event was held as part of the UNDP’s “Forests for the World Initiative.”
Residents of the Hazratishoh, To‘riq and Zangiobod mahallas, as well as representatives of the forestry sector, took part in the seminar. Participants discussed opportunities to apply nature-based solutions amid climate change and water resource shortages.
Particular attention was paid to preserving existing natural resources and increasing the environmental resilience of local areas. Participants exchanged views on practical approaches to ecosystem restoration and the sustainable use of natural resources.
Following the seminar, a “Joint Action Plan” was developed for the pilot areas, outlining measures for sustainable ecosystem restoration. Representatives of the communities also signed a cooperation agreement.
The implementation of the agreements is expected to contribute to strengthening environmental resilience in Chartak district and improving the efficiency of natural resource use.
