Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has signed a three-year contract with South Korea’s LX Corporation to provide consulting services aimed at improving the country’s national address system.
The agreement was signed on 13 October under the Spatial Data Infrastructure for Sustainable Regional Development project, which is being implemented with the participation of the World Bank.
The project aims to establish a modern national address system based on an updated methodology, unified standards and international requirements. The work will cover the strategic, legal, institutional and technical aspects of developing and managing address data.
A key component will be the development of a five-year strategy for the National Address System, together with annual implementation plans. The project also предусматривает the preparation and improvement of national standards for assigning addresses, maintaining address records and exchanging data between government agencies.
Under the contract, specialists will review existing legislation and prepare proposals for amendments, including draft regulatory and legal acts required to support the new system.
Another priority will be the development of a unified procedure for assigning, changing, updating and cancelling addresses. This is intended to establish consistent rules for managing address information.
The contract also предусматривает the preparation of technical documentation for designing the National Address System’s information system and integrating it with other government information resources.
In addition, the project will include draft memorandums of understanding between the authorized government agencies. These documents are expected to define mechanisms for interagency cooperation in creating and exchanging address data.
Following the implementation of the contract, Uzbekistan plans to establish the foundations of its National Address System in accordance with the international standard ISO 19160.
The adoption of unified approaches to address data management is expected to improve coordination between government agencies and create conditions for wider use of reliable address information.
The project is also intended to develop Uzbekistan’s national spatial data infrastructure and improve the efficiency of public service delivery.
