Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan imported US$1.229 billion worth of passenger cars in January–September 2026.
This was 33.6% more than in the same period last year, when the figure stood at US$919.5 million, according to the Uzbekistan Customs Committee.
Electric vehicles accounted for the largest share of imports. Their import value increased by 27.6%, from US$543.8 million to US$693.6 million. In volume terms, imports rose by 32.9%, from 47,241 to 62,789 vehicles.
Imports of gasoline-powered cars, by contrast, declined. Their value fell by 11.2%, from US$309.6 million to US$275.0 million, while the number of vehicles decreased by 4.2%, from 15,413 to 14,769 units.
The most notable growth was recorded in imports of hybrid vehicles powered by gasoline and electricity.
Their value increased 4.1-fold, from US$63.8 million to US$258.6 million, while the number of vehicles rose 4.6-fold, from 2,562 to 11,752 units.
Imports of diesel-powered cars also declined. Their value decreased by 34.5%, from US$2.3 million to US$1.5 million, while the number of vehicles fell by 78.1%, from 96 to 21 units.
