Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has launched a service on the Unified Interactive Public Services Portal, my.gov.uz, allowing passengers to fill out a passenger customs declaration in advance.
The service is intended for individuals entering Uzbekistan and bringing in goods for personal use, mobile devices, jewelry, currency and other items subject to declaration.
The required information can be entered in advance through the web version of my.gov.uz or the MyGov mobile application. After the form is completed, an electronic document is generated. Passengers must save the document on an electronic device and present it to a customs officer when crossing the state border.
Mobile phones and other mobile devices must be declared, as must goods whose quantity or value exceeds the established duty-free import limits.
For jewelry, a declaration is required when the amount exceeds 65 grams for gold items and 200 grams for silver items. For household appliances and electronics, including televisions, laptops, washing machines and air conditioners, declaration is required when more than one unit is imported.
Cash in national or foreign currency exceeding the equivalent of 100 million soums is also subject to mandatory declaration. Certain types of medicines and goods under special control must also be declared, including weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, radio-electronic equipment and historical and cultural valuables.
The current duty-free limits for goods imported for personal use are up to US$1,000 when entering by air, up to US$500 by rail or water transport, and up to US$300 when crossing the border by road or on foot.
When the established duty-free limit is exceeded, customs duties and other payments are charged on the amount exceeding the applicable threshold.
