Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Minister Ibrohim Abdurahmonov met in Tashkent with C4+1 Coordinator Angelo Dan to discuss the development of cooperation in agriculture.
The talks were held on the sidelines of international forums dedicated to World Cotton Day and food security in developing landlocked countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants discussed prospects for further cooperation between Uzbekistan and African countries in agriculture, including experience-sharing and the implementation of new joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to cotton production, food security, the introduction of modern agricultural technologies and the development of seed production. The sides also discussed the production and processing of agricultural products and opportunities to promote them on international markets.
The participants separately considered prospects for taking cooperation under the C4+1 mechanism to a new level.
The discussions focused on expanding the exchange of best practices, scientific developments and innovative technologies among cotton-producing countries.
The sides also emphasized the importance of developing professional and scientific contacts, including between specialists and researchers, as well as implementing joint agricultural projects.
Another area of the talks was cooperation between the International University of Agriculture of Benin and Tashkent State Agrarian University.
C4+1 is a cooperation format involving African cotton-producing countries Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali. Côte d’Ivoire later joined the mechanism.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, make use of existing opportunities and fill new areas of cooperation with practical projects.
