Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s air cargo market has recorded rapid growth, with the volume of air freight increasing by 182% between 2019 and 2024.

Jamoliddin Nazarov, Head of the Air Transport Department at the Ministry of Transport, announced the figures at the international Central Asia Air Cargo III aviation summit in Tashkent.

According to Nazarov, 98,000 tonnes of cargo were transported through Uzbekistan’s airports in 2025. In the first half of 2026, the volume of air cargo transportation increased by another 33%.

The sector’s growth is supported by Uzbekistan’s geographical location, its “open skies” policy and ongoing reforms in the aviation sector. Projects are being implemented to develop a cargo hub at Navoi International Airport, build new cargo terminals and attract international airlines.

Uzbekistan has also set long-term targets for further expanding the air cargo market. In particular, the country plans to increase annual air freight volumes to 300,000 tonnes by 2036.

To achieve this goal, Uzbekistan plans to develop airport infrastructure, expand logistics capabilities and introduce international industry standards.

“Uzbekistan is open to participants in the international air cargo market and offers new opportunities,” Nazarov said.
