President Mirziyoyev visits new medical center in Sergeli
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Global International Hospital, a private multidisciplinary medical center located in Tashkent's Sergeli district, to review its operations.
During the visit, it was noted that developing healthcare and improving the quality and accessibility of medical care remain key priorities of state policy. To achieve this, investments are being channeled into the sector, and support is being provided to foster the development of the private medical sector.
A total of US$30 million was invested in the construction of the medical center. Located on a 0.5-hectare site, the facility is designed to serve more than 150,000 residents per year. The annual volume of services rendered is projected to reach 15 billion soums.
The head of state was presented with a presentation detailed the center's activities. The president toured the surgical, intensive care, and inpatient departments, as well as the situational center.
The project's implementation has generated 250 new jobs. More than 10 highly qualified specialists underwent professional training abroad, and foreign doctors are also employed at the center.
The medical facility is outfitted with modern equipment manufactured in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany, including advanced medical technologies from the Philips corporation.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of transforming the center into a baseline medical institution for specific medical fields. Responsible officials were instructed to organize advanced training for doctors utilizing the experience gathered at the facility and to expand the population's access to modern medical services.
During a meeting with the hospital staff, the president also highlighted the necessity of supporting healthcare professionals, expanding the number of private medical organizations, and raising the quality of provided care.
According to the head of state, alongside the development of medical services, it is necessary to more actively promote medical tourism, study international practices, and build hotel infrastructure adjacent to hospitals.
