Uzbekistan and UN discuss expanding social volunteering
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The National Social Protection Agency of Uzbekistan met with Toily Kurbanov, Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, to discuss the development of social volunteering across the country.
The sides explored opportunities to establish a sustainable national system for volunteer assistance in the social sector. Currently, under the "Volunteers — Inson" and "Mehr" projects, volunteers work alongside social workers to assist vulnerable citizens, elderly individuals, and families facing difficult life circumstances.
During the meeting, participants proposed measures to further expand social volunteering based at "Inson" centers. The discussions also focused on broadening volunteer access to UNV opportunities and promoting inclusive volunteering.
The two parties outlined further steps to strengthen cooperation and implement joint projects in these areas.
