Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Georgia have discussed expanding bilateral trade, with a target of increasing trade turnover to US$1 billion.

The issue was considered on 12 October at the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two countries, held in Tsinandali, Georgia.

The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili.

The sides explored opportunities to make greater use of the free trade regime and implement joint initiatives in industry, construction, agriculture, energy and finance.

Particular attention was paid to developing the Trans-Caspian Transport Route and establishing an Uzbek logistics centre at Georgia’s Port of Poti.

According to available information, the first pilot shipment of Uzbek products to Europe has already been dispatched from the port.

Other areas of cooperation include industrial collaboration, expanding air links, developing tourism and strengthening interregional ties.

The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is scheduled to take place in Tashkent Region in spring 2027.
