Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kazan hosted the 24th meeting of prosecutors general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, with representatives from Uzbekistan taking part.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the competent authorities of Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the SCO Secretariat and the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.

A delegation from Mongolia participated as an observer, while representatives of Azerbaijan, Qatar, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Sri Lanka attended as SCO dialogue partners.

The main focus of the meeting was preventing the spread of unlawful content among minors and issues related to protecting traditional family values.

Participants exchanged law enforcement experience, discussed practical measures to prevent destructive influences on young people and identified areas for further cooperation.

Following the meeting, participants signed a protocol providing for the development of international cooperation to protect minors from materials that may harm them. The parties agreed to exchange information, practices and law enforcement results in identifying, suppressing and preventing the spread of such content online.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation between educational, research and academic-practical institutions of the prosecutors’ offices of SCO member states.

Joint events are also planned to exchange experience and develop measures to ensure a safe information environment for minors.

The next meeting of prosecutors general of the SCO member states will be held in Uzbekistan in 2027.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was established in 2001.

It currently comprises 10 countries: Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The first meeting of prosecutors general of the SCO member states was held in Shanghai in 2002.
