Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The embezzlement of 13.9 billion soums in budget funds has been uncovered in Nurafshon during the construction of wastewater treatment facilities, a unit of the Department under Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
According to the agency, the investigation was conducted by the Zangiata District Department of the agency.
The inspection found that fictitious documents had been prepared during the implementation of a contract between the Tashkent regional office of the state engineering company responsible for water supply and sewerage infrastructure and the Tashkent Region state enterprise Suvokova.
The documents stated that construction work worth 87.2 billion soums had been completed. However, the actual volume of work was valued at 73.3 billion soums. According to the inspection, the difference of 13.9 billion soums was embezzled.
A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident under the relevant articles of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.
Investigative proceedings are ongoing.
