Nizami Pedagogical University campus opens in New Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new campus of the Nizami National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan in New Tashkent, the Uzbek presidential press service said. The two leaders also toured the campus’s educational and research facilities.
As part of the ceremony, Mirziyoyev and Aliyev planted a tree near a monument to Nizami Ganjavi.
The presidents were briefed on the construction of the university complex and plans for further development of the campus’s educational infrastructure.
The complex is being built on a 40-hectare site in two stages. The project includes academic buildings designed to accommodate 20,000 students and dormitories with 5,000 places.
The first stage includes a five-story academic building with capacity for 12,000 students and a modern laboratory complex.
The two presidents reviewed the educational and research environment established on the campus. They also visited the information and resource center and a museum exhibition dedicated to the heritage of Nizami Ganjavi.
The museum features materials on the life and work of the Azerbaijani poet and thinker, his spiritual heritage, as well as centuries-old cultural and literary ties between the Uzbek and Azerbaijani peoples.
Mirziyoyev and Aliyev emphasized the importance of cooperation in education, science and culture for bringing the two peoples closer together and educating the younger generation on the basis of shared spiritual values.
