Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A driver training centre is planned for establishment in Syrdarya Region to prepare candidates for employment in Japan.

The project was discussed by Acting Regional Governor Doniyor Kadirov and Jun Kato, head of Japanese company Onodera User Run.

The two sides reviewed plans to train qualified personnel in driver services, provide instruction in line with international requirements and help Uzbek citizens secure jobs in Japan.

The project is expected to send 400 drivers to Japan in its first stage. The number is subsequently planned to increase to 1,000.

Candidates will undergo a special seven-month training programme covering the Japanese language, transport safety regulations and practical driving lessons.

After completing the programme, participants will be interviewed by Japanese employers. Those who successfully pass the selection process are planned to be sent to Japan for work.

The initiative is aimed at expanding overseas employment opportunities for residents of the region.
