Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Construction work has been completed in Syrdarya and Tashkent regions under a major investment project to develop Uzbekistan's electricity transmission system.

The newly built facilities are now being connected to Uzbekistan's Unified Power System, with commissioning and preparations for their operation under way.

The project included the construction of the 500 kV Khalqa substation, with a capacity of 1,602 MVA, as well as 220 kV and 500 kV overhead power transmission lines.

The 220 kV lines extend for 213 km, while the 500 kV lines cover 72 km, bringing the total length of the new network infrastructure to 285 km.

The investment project is valued at US$171.4 million and was implemented with the participation of the World Bank.

The new infrastructure is expected to expand the capacity of the national power grid, improve the efficiency of electricity flows and strengthen the stability of the power network.

The project is also intended to support reliable electricity supplies to the regions, optimise loads on existing networks and enable the connection of new generation capacity in the future.

Final integration of the newly built facilities into Uzbekistan's Unified Power System is currently under way.
