Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek First Lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva and Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met in Tashkent and visited the Islamic Civilization Center as part of a joint program. They viewed exhibitions dedicated to the history, culture and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan, as well as the historical ties between the two peoples, the Uzbek first lady’s Telegram channel said.

Mirziyoyeva and Aliyeva visited the “Pre-Islamic Civilizations” hall, exhibitions dedicated to the First and Second Renaissances, and the “New Uzbekistan” hall.

The first ladies also viewed museum exhibits reflecting the centuries-old historical and cultural ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

At the end of the visit, they toured the Quran Hall, which serves as the spiritual and architectural centerpiece of the exhibition. The hall’s main artifact is the Mus’haf of Uthman, one of the oldest surviving manuscripts of the Quran.

The monument of Islamic written culture dates back to the 7th century and is included in UNESCO’s Memory of the World international register.

During the meeting, the importance of further strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan was emphasized. The sides also highlighted the shared history, cultural traditions and spiritual values connecting the peoples of the two countries.
