Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a project to produce equipment for small hydropower plants in Andijan District. The project involves establishing the Andijon Jinlun Yangi Energiya enterprise and launching production of equipment for micro and small hydropower plants.
The project is based on a presidential resolution dated 28 March 2025 aimed at developing a network of micro hydropower plants across the regions.
The project is fully financed through foreign investment, with a total value of US$20 million. The enterprise is scheduled to reach full production capacity in 2027.
Once production begins, the enterprise will be able to manufacture 100 small hydropower plant complexes annually, with a total value of 70 billion soums. It also plans to produce micro-hydropower equipment, machine tools and electrical products.
Andijan Region has significant water resources for developing micro and small hydropower. In particular, the stable flow of the Big Ferghana Canal is considered a favorable basis for constructing such facilities.
The project is expected to create 200 new jobs. The enterprise’s products are planned to be exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, with annual export supplies targeted at US$3 million.
In addition to manufacturing equipment, the enterprise plans to build a number of micro hydropower plants in Andijan Region. These facilities are expected to provide households and industrial enterprises with affordable, environmentally friendly and stable electricity.
The project highlights growing demand for small and micro hydropower plants as an option for using renewable energy sources. Their advantages include minimal environmental impact, relatively short construction periods and stable electricity generation.
