Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first Uzbekistan-US Transport and Logistics Forum was held on 29 September at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington. Participants discussed expanding cooperation in transport and logistics, developing service operations, as well as business security and operational risk management.
The forum was organised with the participation of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan and the country’s embassy in the United States.
The event was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the US Furkat Sidikov, IT Park Uzbekistan’s Director for Development in North America Ruslan Yapparov, IT Park Uzbekistan’s Director of Resident Relations Lazizbek Khudaev, the embassy’s adviser on internal affairs Abdukhalim Khalilov, Zone-OH LLC CEO Sherkhonkhuzha Imomkhojaev, Norbek & Partners LLC Founding Partner Sukhrob Norbekov and ITF Group CEO Saidazim Burkhanhodzhaev.
More than 65 representatives of the transport and logistics sector, businesses, government agencies and law enforcement bodies attended the forum.
Uzbekistan as a hub for service operations
The meeting presented Uzbekistan’s opportunities for international transport and logistics companies, including existing support measures, its workforce potential and conditions for developing BPO services.
Uzbek companies already provide services to the US transport and logistics sector. Areas of cooperation include dispatching, accounting, fleet management and recruitment.
According to IT Park Uzbekistan, more than 550 resident companies work with the US market.
Security and risk management
A separate forum session focused on challenges faced by companies in the US transport and logistics industry. Participants discussed fraud prevention, business protection, incident response and interaction between companies and government and law enforcement agencies.
The discussions focused on sharing practical experience and finding solutions to reduce operational risks when operating in the US market.
Zero Risk programme
Participants were also introduced to the Zero Risk programme, designed to support international companies launching and expanding operations in Uzbekistan.
The programme provides assistance with office infrastructure and equipment, recruitment and training of specialists, as well as compensation for part of salary costs.
The first Uzbekistan-US Transport and Logistics Forum provided a platform for direct interaction between industry representatives from the two countries. The discussions focused on practical areas of cooperation, including the development of BPO and other service operations in Uzbekistan to support companies operating in the US market.
