Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Polina Kudermetova advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing.
In the second round, the Uzbek tennis player defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Tauson previously reached No. 12 in the WTA rankings. She currently occupies 44th place in the world rankings.
Reaching the third round guarantees Kudermetova at least US$61,865 in prize money and 65 WTA ranking points.
Kudermetova’s next opponent will be fourth seed Mirra Andreeva. The match will be played in the third round of the Beijing tournament.
