Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s U-20 national team secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Armenia in the opening match of the Mirabror Usmonov Cup 2026 memorial tournament.
The match was played on 2 October at the National Football Centre. Uzbekistan conceded first but then scored five goals to finish the game with a four-goal advantage.
Armenia opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Uzbekistan responded late in the first half: Abdulfaiz Bobomurodov equalised in the 36th minute, and two minutes later Davron Tulaganov put the hosts ahead.
After the break, Uzbekistan continued to extend its lead. In the 47th minute, Tulaganov scored his second goal of the match to make it 3-1.
The Uzbek team scored twice more in the closing stages. In the 76th minute, Kamron Yusupov capitalised on a mistake by the opposing goalkeeper to make it 4-1. Two minutes later, Yusupov scored again to complete the 5-1 victory.
In another tournament match played on 2 October, Russia’s U-19 team defeated Saudi Arabia 3-1.
The Mirabror Usmonov Cup 2026 memorial tournament is being held from 2 to 6 October. The competition is dedicated to the memory of Mirabror Usmonov.
